Mr. Green's Blog: New Regulation in China for Room Air Conditioners(New!)
Since 2005, China has been promoting energy efficiency with its GB (“Guo Biao”) national standards, setting the scope, parameters, and prescriptive test limits for products ranging from household appliances and flat-panel televisions to luminaires/ballasts and automotive parts. On December 31, 2019, China officially published a new GB national standard pertaining to room air conditioners.

Highlights include PowiGaN-based InnoSwitch3 offline flyback switcher ICs, BridgeSwitch motor driver ICs for single- and multi-phase BLDC motors, 900 V switcher ICs for regions with unstable mains voltage and the new AEC-Q100 qualified SCALE-iDriver SiC gate driver ICs.

Power Integrations today announced that its SIC118xKQ SCALE-iDriver, a high-efficiency, single-channel gate driver for silicon carbide (SiC) MOSFETs, is now certified to AEC-Q100 for automotive use. Devices can be configured to support gate-drive voltage requirements of commonly used SiC MOSFETs and feature sophisticated safety and protection features.
