PoE Interoperability Testing

The University of New Hampshire in cooperation with key players in implementation of the IEEE802.3af power over Ethernet (PoE) standard has established an interoperability test laboratory. It is necessary to demonstrate adherence to the IEEE standard and to show interoperability with the different types of Power Sending Equipment (PSE) available today. Full details are available on the UNH-IOL Power over Ethernet Consortium page.

DI-88 Class 2 PoE Power Supply

Power Integrations has submitted Powered Device Power supplies (PDs) for testing with the UNH-IOC. The circuit shown in DI-88 was tested at the UNH-IOC in 2005 and found to work in operation with all available PSEs. The unit was also tested against the requirements of IEEE802.3af and was found to function in agreement with the test standards.

* The circuit described in DI-88 has been released as DAK-86. The UNH-IOC carried out testing on a DAK-86 board and hence refers to the DAK-86 in its test report. The circuit tested is in all respects identical to that shown in DI-88.
