Enter a fixed gap lenght value

Hi, on PI expert 8.5, instead calculate the gap lenght, can I enter with the gap value and adjust the winding parameters for my specific core? Thanks.

No you cannot. Unfortunately

No you cannot. Unfortunately the gap length and corresponding inductance value depend on material used so rather than fixing the gap length the software puts the onus on the transformer vendor to ensure that the correct magnetizing inductance is achieved.

I’ve had the same problem
In response to No you cannot. Unfortunately

I’ve had the same problem when using the package for a tny274 design. Although you get a good overall guide of how to apply the device, the transformer design support is somewhat limited. It’s fine if you happen to have a ferrite grinder kit, or don’t mind spending thousands in specially made samples to get that one off prototype right.

Basically, in practice, you have to do the transformer bit separately. Which is a great shame.

What’s the point though in providing a good library support mechanism when you can’t use off the shelf parts. I.e. gapped and non-gapped ferrites of the common core and material types, availably from distributors such as RS and Farnell.
