Drop In Replacements

Can I design a power supply using the TOP261 and drop in the TOP271 and have it not explode?

TOP261 and TOP271

Hello DNichol,

You can substitute these two parts as long as you use the same package/rating with same pin-out, and program both of them for the same switching frequency (see the specification). Also, it is a good practice to run the project trough our PIExpert since there are some minor differences in the loop gain for these two parts and you will see what you have to modify (usually one resistor connected to the optocoupler input).

Cheers,
