600Vrms input power supply

Posted by: betzu on

I'm trying to design a 600Vrms power supply that meets IEC 61010-1 (and UL 61010-1). I'm not sure if switching mode power supplies in general and PI products in particular meet the requirements of 61010 for 600V CAT III. The clearance and creepage distances as far as I can tell are well above any controller or external switch I found so far. If you have more experience in this area, do you know if a switching mode power supply sollution could be accepted?

I am not aware of any applications for 600V CAT III that uses Power Integrations devices. If the output power is low (about 1 Watt), you may want to search the website for StackFET applications. It has never been used at this voltage, but it may be extended to this range.
