130W two transistor forward with HiperTFS?

Posted by: treez on

Hi,
We are doing a 130W Two Tran Forward with vout = 24V. It will power two other isolated SMPS's , so that they can give their isolated outputs, as well as giving a 24V, 48W output itself.

Is it true the HiperTFS cannot be used with vin<300V?....(ie, a PFC output?)...our vin will be 90 to 373VDC.
Its the output of a three diode rectifier from three phase (115vac or 240VAC).

Also, we do not wish to use a fan for cooling, and feel that we may need to use a different controller so we can use separate TO22 FETs on their own heatsinks. Our enclosure has airvents, and highest ambient is around 35-40DegC.

Also, i believe their is something about needing the core to be gapped due to reset issues in light load?

You would be better served by using a flyback converter for that sort of application. especially given the wide voltage range, though getting 130W with 90VDC input may be a challenge. 130W/24V will not be a challenge for the output stage, at least.
