PI Webinar - Straightforward Design of Efficient Motor Drivers

PI Webinar - Straightforward Design of Efficient Motor Drivers
2023 November 28, 11:30 - 12:30 (America/New York)

Designers are under constant pressure to develop compact, efficient and reliable motor drive systems that are certified to international safety standards. Compact, reliable and certified permanent magnet and brushless DC (BLDC) motor drives are necessary for a variety of appliance applications, including fans in high efficiency air conditioning, >97% fridge compressor inverters, quiet pumps in dishwashers and washing machines and range hood and ceiling fans. Clearly there is a need for a simple-to-use, IEC 60335- and IEC 60730-certified BLDC motor drive solution that can not only help with the design of the motor control system, but also deliver fault diagnosis and protection.

This presentation will discuss the growth in the market for BLDC and permanent magnet motors that address the market up to 400 W, and the factors that are driving the need for new solutions which are energy efficient and reliable. It will introduce BridgeSwitch™, Power Integrations’ innovative single- and three-phase motor driver IC family and the latest motor drive design tools for example the PIXLS thermal simulator and PCB are estimator and the MotorXpert™ GUI - unique in the market - which eases designs and shortens certification time, reducing time-to-market.

Attendees of this webinar will learn:

  • The fundamentals of BridgeSwitch’s highly efficient technology.
  • The importance of meeting the new energy efficiency regulations which are forcing the adoption of new and innovative designs.
  • To develop methods to select best available reference design and match customer conditions and thermal specifications.
