PI Expert wont do 24V, 24W Flyback

Posted by: treez on

Hi,
Do you know why Innoswitch4-CZ , in PI Expert, wont do a 24V Flyback of 24W?

Also, is it right that you dont have to use the ClampZero component with Innoswitch4-CZ? (ie you can just leave the HSD pin open)?

Hi treez,

InnoSwitch4-CZ is designed and optimized for higher power applications and is not recommended for 24W designs. In particular, the current limit is not trimmed for such low power.

PI Expert fails to create a 24W design with Innoswitch4-CZ and I will look into why that happens. But even if it successfully made the design, it would have a very high KP and high ripple current.

Using Innoswitch4-CZ without ClampZero might technically be possible, but is not recommended. Its performance would be inferior to other InnoSwitch families.

I highly recommended looking into other InnoSwitch families for 24W. For example, InnoSwitch3-CE or InnoSwitch3-EP 725V.

Based on your recent posts it seems that you would like to use an PowiGaN part for your 24W application over a regular one. Is that correct?
